History of General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada
The Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) heritage began in Canada when Diesel Division General Motors of Canada built the AVGPs in the late 1970s. In 1999 the company was renamed GM Defense, in recognition of its expanded defence business responsibilities. Then, in 2003 after its acquisition by General Dynamics, it became General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada. With over 30 years of history in producing LAVs for our customers, we are taking our commitment to excellence forward, supporting & protecting soldiers in future deployments just as we have done in the past.
