Our primary wheeled-vehicle manufacturing takes place in almost 28,000 square metres of production facilities in London, Ontario. With more than 2,400 employees working three shifts, General Dynamics Land Systems can achieve a line rate capacity of three welded hulls a day and two assembled hulls. We offer a highly skilled workforce of armoured vehicle production specialists, including annually certified welders. These skilled workers operate the latest in modern, high-capacity production equipment, and use ISO-certified processes along with techniques such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to ensure our continued standing as a world-class LAV manufacturer.
General Dynamics Land Systems - Canada uses a newly developed weld cell that can accommodate an infinite variety of piece part weldments without the need for hard fixtures. Our infrastructure includes an Engineering Model Shop for building and instrumenting test prototypes, first production vehicles and test rigs. Metal fabricating, robotic welding, cranes and rolling trunnions, an instrumentation lab, a hydraulic test room, and an eight-pad weigh scale are also available. Our highly skilled tradesmen and assemblers are experienced in providing direct support and feedback to designers. A weld lab supports welder and new joint certification, including sample preparation and inspection. Processes such as Quality Assurance inspections that use x-ray and liquid-dye penetrants and performance testing on a paved oval test track with 30% and 60% slopes, as well as in a float tank, are incorporated in our build processes to ensure the highest quality.
