Our Commitments

Supporting Our Veterans

Supporting the Solider and their family is one of the three Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillars that guide our philosophy of service. From our involvement with the Veterans Care Program located at Parkwood Institute and St. Joseph’s Health Care to our support of the Holy Roller Memorial Project, we strive to find ways to honour those who serve our country.

There is a profound connection between our colleagues and the soldiers who use what we manufacture. A large segment of our colleague population has served in the military or is serving in a reserve capacity. Their connection to their work is rooted in the pride they hold in the Canadian Armed Forces. What we do is personal. We all know exactly who we work for: the men and women of our Armed Forces and those of our allies.

We encourage Veterans to join our team and begin a meaningful and exciting career at Land Systems–Canada. If you have served, your experience is invaluable. The skills you gained from your service are transferrable. Using your first-hand knowledge to improve our products and services can make a meaningful impact.

Taking care of the Communities in Which We Live, Work and Play

Giving back to the communities where we live, work and play is extremely important to us. Our longstanding philosophy of service is guided by our three Corporate Social Responsibility pillars: Enrich the Community; Support the Solider and Military Families; and Develop Leaders. Over the years, we have made significant financial contributions in these three areas.

We are always looking for ways make a difference in our communities through contributions to health care, arts and culture and charitable organizations. Apart from our donations and sponsorships as an organization, our colleagues give their time and commitment to making a difference through work with local organizations such as Toys for Tots Canada, London & Area Food Bank, Anova, Children’s Health Foundation, Atlohsa Family Healing Services and Habitat for Humanity, plus our annual United Way campaign.

We also believe it’s important to help our young people become leaders of the future. We donate to and participate in educational and business-related activities and youth programs such as Youth Opportunities Unlimited, the Ranger Foundation, Junior Achievement, Western Engineering Outreach Program – Discovery Western, Women in Defence and Security and Thames Valley Education Fund.

We understand that the economic, social and environmental choices we make affect the lives of our customers, shareholders, colleagues and communities. That is why we operate our business ethically and according to the principles of honesty, transparency and accountability.

Contributions to the Future of Energy and Climate Change

At Land Systems–Canada, we are committed to helping stop climate change by advancing our sustainability agenda, which includes energy reduction. We have proudly established an Energy Team that helps generate new initiatives for energy reduction at our sites.

In 2020, General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada’s main office building and central manufacturing facility in London, Ontario, became ISO 50001-certified. This certification aligns with General Dynamics’ commitment to reduce its global environmental impact, decrease costs and remain competitive.

The ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard is recognized internationally and gives organizations a structured framework to manage energy performance, efficiency, use and consumption. In addition, it complements a management system, already achieved, for environmental matters that is compliant with the current edition of ISO 14001.

We also are pursuing energy efficiency in our products. Land Systems-Canada has designed and built and continues to test and evolve an electric, hybrid and other modes of power generation and distribution to the Light Armoured Vehicle platform.

In 2022, we joined other leading companies in establishing a greenhouse gas goal of lowering emissions by 40% by 2034.

These are just some of the ways we’re doing our part for the environment. We are continually looking for methods to be energy-efficient and lower our consumption.

Indigenous Participation

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada continues to cultivate many relationships within and outside of the defence industry. Our engagement with Indigenous peoples focuses on developing a better understanding of their unique perspectives and challenges and creating long-term socioeconomic benefits for Indigenous peoples, businesses and communities. We aim to increase Indigenous participation in the Canadian economy and, specifically, in the defence industry.

We are committed to growing our knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, and experiences. Our membership with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB), participation in CCAB’s Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification program, work with Indigenous businesses, and our support of numerous Indigenous programs is helping us achieve our goals.
